BIOPATH 4 Firefly Conservation Trip

On 19th September 2024, we had a trip to Firefly Valley Leisure Park in Kota Tinggi. It is the remaining 5 firefly parks in whole of peninsular Malaysia. The trip aim to teach the children on the importance of conservation towards fireflies. The park director, Mr. Tan was our bout tour guide and driver. He had drove us down the Johor River to see the fireflies which are on our left side. The number of fireflies has dwindled to a staggering low number and that is why he urged us not to take out our phone or camera to take pictures of the firefly as it might disturb the firefly mating process in the night. The trip was quite fruitful as it was our first time seeing fireflies and we had learned the importance of conservation so that our future generations can admire the beauty of the magical fireflies of Johor River.
